We’ve teamed up with The Homebrewer to offer some hands-on programming. Whether your interests lie in the complexities of the science behind the suds, or the simple joy of combining food with your favorite beverage, our stage offers a variety of educational and entertaining offerings.

Beer: The Change you want to See presented by SD Beer Dudes and Chef Chuy from The Good Seed Food Company Just like craft beer and delicious food go so well together, charity and craft beer are the perfect pairing. Taste great food made by Chef Chuy from The Good Seed Food Company paired with craft beer as they share what they are doing to Be The Change in San Diego and how you can be a part of it!

Hops & Succulent Crown DIY presented by Women’s Craft Collective and Rain to Roots Custom make your own hops & Succulent Crown while sipping craft beer. Make and take your creation with you to wear during the festival!

Spice it Up: Beer and Pepper Pairing presented by San DiFuego Join Brian Frederick, President of San Diego’s Premier Pepper Enthusiast Club, San DiFuego as he leads you on a guided pairing of 3 beers and peppers to show how sweet, hoppy and tart beer can bring out, cover up or compliment the flavor and heat.

Off Beer Flavors and Their Causes presented by George at Home Brewing Co. You’ve had good beer now try some bad beer! Learn what causes bad off flavors in beer and how to spot them in this interactive demo led by The Homebrewer team.

AleSmith Barrel Aged Pairings presented by Anthony Chen Interested in the art of barrel-aging and blending beers? Anthony Chen, Lead Brewer/Manager at AleSmith and a BJCP National level beer judge, will discuss the story behind the newly opened barrel-aged beer speakeasy Anvil & Stave Room and provide interactive barrel-aged beer blending basics behind this in-depth demo. Come learn some tips from one of the best!

Let Oggi’s Sports | Brewhouse | Pizza show you why their craft beers have won over 50 awards, and how to best pair them with your favorite Oggi’s menu items.

Master Pairings with Dr. Bill’s Wild Barrel Brewing and So Rich! Chocolates Treat your taste buds in this master pairing featuring So Rich Chocolates owner, Johna Nilson and Bill Sysak, one of San Diego’s leading beer educators and enthusiasts. This demo will highlight special brews from Dr. Bill’s own Brewery, Wild Barrel Brewing located in San Marcos.

AWARDS CEREMONY The San Diego International Beer Competition Awards Ceremony is the ultimate highlight of the festival. Every brewery at the festival is there because they participated in the San Diego International Beer Competition earlier this Spring. The awards ceremony is the main event where the Best of Show is announced and top winning breweries are awarded.

Pickles, Beer and Fermentation presented by The Austin Durant Fermenters Club Using simple age-old techniques, you can make naturally fermented pickles with Austin’s easy step-by-step approach. He will showcase some of the many variations available to the home fermenationist and pair them with our favorite fermented beverage — beer!

DIY: Brewing Hand Made Beer Soap presented by Beer Can Soap You know the difference between corporate beer and craft beer. Now, learn what makes craft beer soap so different from corporate soap- from the feel, scent, beer and ingredients. In this demo, you’ll taste some beer and smell some scents so you could imagine what your own beer soap would smell like.

The Garage Brewing Dinner Date Garage Brewing invites you to join them for a “taste” of dinner- this 3 course pairing will include a fun appetizer, dish and dessert to pair with their award-winning brews right in the middle of the festival.

Beer and Cheese 101 presented by Venissimo Cheese You do not want to miss this decadent demo that will pair Venissimo specialty cheeses with gourmet craft beers. Cheese master, Rob Graff will teach you the beer and cheese pairing theory so you can throw your own pairing parties! You can also sign up for a class at one of their San Diego Locations.

Beer Pairing by Abnormal Beer Co & The Cork & Craft presented by Executive Chef of The Cork & Craft Scott Cannon & Head Brewer of Abnormal Nyle Molina Kicking off Sunday’s SDIBF session dedicated to the Homebrewer, Abnormal Beer Co will tap the 2017 Best of Show Homebrew Competition winning beer and bring in their culinary team to pair some amazing food in this award winning pairing.

Why Homebrewing is Awesome! presented by QUAFF Local Homebrew club QUAFF guides us through a look into the area of brewing and how homebrewers have shaped the growth of the craft beer culture while sipping on some craft beers.

Join Certifed Cicerone (TM) Chris Manzi of Home Brewing Co. in an explanation of this new certification that interests beer afficionados and industry professionals alike. He’ll have samples of brewing ingredients and beers spiked with common off-flavors to share why this certification is valuable in today’s craft beer market.
