This year our Brew Crew had to beg, borrow and steal to bring you the world’s most impossible-to-get beers. These rare gems are tapping at specific times in our new Steampunk Ale Pavilion, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Set an alarm on your phone so you won’t miss out!

Steampunk Ale
Abnormal Beer Company

A California Commons Beer
ABV: 5.1%

We created a concoction never tasted before! Steampunk Ale, a FAIR-ly ABNORMAL California Common beer, was brewed specially for the 2016 San Diego International Beer Festival and San Diego County Fair. A crisp, medium-bodied lager with bready malt and earthy, minty hops as well as lager yeast.

Available at all five sessions of the SDIBF in the Steampunk Ale Pavilion.

Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout
ABV: 12.4% RateBeer: 100

The rarest of the rare. What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

This beer taps at 1:00pm on Friday June 17 in the Steampunk Ale Pavilion.

2014 Barrel-Aged Decadence
Alesmith Brewing Company

Bourbon Barrel Wheat Wine Ale
ABV: 10.0% RateBeer: 97

Originally brewed as part of Alesmith’s Decadence series, one lucky portion of this ale was set aside for aging in bourbon barrels. After a lengthy hibernation, new notes of vanilla and bourbon combined with the Wheat Wine’s honey and fruit flavors to make this ultra-limited release a truly memorable brew.

Uncle Jacob’s Stout
Avery Brewing Co.

Barrel Aged Super Strong Stout
ABV: 17.1% RateBeer: 100

Avery created this brew after their 6th Great Grand Uncle Jacob Spears, who is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey “Bourbon.” A robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for six months in the very finest Kentucky Bourbon barrels.

This beer taps at 12:00 noon on Saturday June 18 in the Steampunk Ale Pavilion.

Barrel Aged Victory at Sea
Ballast Point Brewing

Coffee Vanilla Imperial Porter
ABV: 10.0% RateBeer: 100

This robust Imperial Porter is infused with whole vanilla beans and San Diego’s own Caffe Calabria coffee beans. The subtle roasted notes and minimal acidity of the cold brewed coffee, balances perfectly with the sweet caramel undertones of the malt, creating a winning combination for your palate.

Barrelworks Bretta Rose
Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

Barrel Aged Sour with Raspberries
ABV: 5.3% RateBeer: 99

Behold Bretta Rosé! Start with a Berliner Weisse ale, aged in French oak for 6 months, then add 1000 lbs. of fresh raspberries. Wait 4 more months for a secondary wild fermentation and voila!… a crisp effervescent concoction, bursting with raspberry flavor and a clean refreshing finish.
