who can enter?
Open to any licensed brewery, brewpub, meadery or cidery. Breweries with multiple locations may enter up to 10 beers from each location, but may not enter the same brand twice. Beers may be entered only by a representative of the brewery. Distributors are responsible for gaining brewery permission for entry submittal. Brewery representatives present at the Festival must be at least 21 years of age. All beers entered must be currently available for commercial sale to the general public.
what do I receive by entering?
- Whether 1 entry or 10 entries are submitted, each brewery will receive:
- Two t-shirts per brewery
- Printed sign for display during Festival
- Lots of promotion and great exposure at the San Diego County Fair
Breweries will also receive the following; the quantity will depend on how many beers are entered.
1 to 4 beers entered will get you 4 of each, 5-10 beers entered will get you 8 of each.
- Fair admission credentials
- Tasting wristbands and festival glasses good for all sessions. Additional wristbands may be purchased for at the Festival.
is there a limit?
Breweries may enter up to 10 beers in the competition from each location. Of these, Premier Foods will order up to 3 (or up to 4 as space allows) for serving at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Please indicate if you do Not want to send beers to the Festival when you enter on-line. There is a limit of 1 entry per class or sub-class per brewery, except in Meads and Ciders.
what do I submit for competition?
Competition beers consist of 3 bottles or cans if 16 oz or more (17.9 oz, 22 oz., 750 ml.) or 4 bottles or cans if 11 oz – 12 oz. Print the labels provided and tape your entry labels to each bottle/can in a water-proof manner (wide, clear packing tape is best). If entries are bottle conditioned, please include a highly visible additional label so stating; we want to handle your entries properly. There is a label template in the competition document (print and cut as many as needed).
is there a fee?
There is a $50.00 fee per entry, with a maximum of 10 entries. Processing fees are non-refundable.
